The Journey Begins
BetterCup started as an innocent online inquiry for a pass-through dishwasher yet quickly transformed into something much more significant. Led by an inspiring group of women, BetterCup’s revolutionary concept of providing reusable cups for large events while reducing waste and promoting sustainability captivated us at Rhima Australia—we wanted to join this movement immediately!
Initial trials presented many challenges, as with any groundbreaking project. Constructing a machine that cleans 3,000 cups per hour while also dealing with mould and gum residue was no simple task. Yet BetterCup and Rhima shared a common understanding and goal: making reusable cups the standard in events across Australia.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Innovation
At Rhima, we take great pride in our 120 years of experience in the dishwashing industry. However, what sets us apart from the competition is our flexibility to adapt and innovate in response to client demands—something BetterCup offered us as an exciting challenge that we gladly accepted.
Understanding their individual requirements, we created Australia’s first custom-built washer/dryer capable of washing 3,000 cups an hour.
Quality was at the core of our efforts; each cup needed to be thoroughly washed and dried before immediate reuse. For stubborn cups that had gum or mould residue, we designed a special soaking tank to facilitate effective breakdown of contaminants ensuring every cup left the washer in pristine condition.
